 |
The Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) Specification is aimed to define how wireless data is sent over long distances. It is based on the IEEE 802.16 standard.
- Provides an alternative to cable and DSL for last mile broadband access
- Uses Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing, OFDM for transmission
- Provides high-speed data and telecommunications
- WiMAX is a long-range system (many kilometers) as opposed to WiFi's short range
